Season For God

I ache with longing 
to be near You, God, 
like a thousand bruises 
on my fragile heart. 

Of all the hurting places 
in this fallen world 
and in me, 
none bring more despair 
than separation from You. 

Please do not lose 
this one 
who is given to You. 
Please, God, 
keep me ever close. 

Let my name 
be written in Your Book 
that one day, I may 
never leave Your side. 

Else my bruises 
become a billion breaks, 
turn to dust and blow away 
with the slightest wind.
