Season For God

Prayers, Poems, and Pondering

I lay my life at Divinity’s feet. With a heart for God, I pray. With a humble mind, I speak.

Water of Life

Save me, please,
from this vile thing in me.
God of my soul, I beg,
transform this abomination.

For my flesh lures me in
to tear me down,
and I can’t bear the shame
any longer.

Don’t let me sink
in these dark waters,
this terrible swamp
I fell upon too far
within myself.

Take my burden of guilt,
Oh God, this drowning hazard.
Cleanse my wicked heart.
Purify my thoughts,
and lend me a precious lumen
to live by.

For the way of the world
is sorrow and death
in an endless lake of night.
but You are the clear
wellspring
of the only holy light.
